  • However, the absence of pain is distinct from the presence of joy.

Holy shit I love this so much.

I grew a huge beard both to hide my face and because shaving made me feel miserable for reasons that were at the time unidentifiable.

    Yup.

When I think back to when I was pretending to be a man I remember feeling numb all the time, whereas my world became so much more vibrant as my hormone levels feminized.

I feel like we’ve shared a life. My experience is exactly this. I rarely took an active role in my own life and just felt like I was floating along a pathway I was expected to be following.

  • Hi there, Gorgeous! Glad you’re here 💜

You don’t need to know exactly what your gender identity is or what you can label yourself as. I spent most of my life “fine” with my agab, but i could never picture what my future looked like. When my egg cracked, I thought that maybe I was just questioning and nothing would come of it. Over time, I moved around through demigender, bigender, and gender fluid before finally understanding that I was just a straight up binary trans woman. That came after a lot of experimenting and better understanding the role that gender dysphoria played in my life when I never identified it as such at the time. Your gender journey is yours alone and it doesn’t have to have any clearly defined stops, starts, or clear pathways. It’s okay if its murky, and filled with ebbs and flows and detours. And its totally fine if that journey leads you back to a feeling that you are, in fact, cis.

Hope this helps, feel free to ask me any questions :)

  • I really appreciate these comments. I’ve written about it before but I struggle a lot with the grief of having missed out on so much on the life I wanted to have. I consider myself unapologetically trans, and I find a lot of strength and motivation in continuing the long lineage of tough and badass transgender people fighting for better futures. However, the fantization of starting over as a cis person and shedding by trans identity if given the opportunity is incredibly strong.

Y’alls perspectives really have helped me connect back with my reality and find comfort in it. Thank you 💜

  • I’ve been doing 2 hour sessions of electrolysis every month since June 2025. I’m now finally seeing more noticeable results. It, unfortunately, just takes a long time and persistence. Facial hair is thick and wirey and notoriously resilient. Laser and electrolysis sessions have to be consistent as to treat as many follicles as possible that are in their new growth phase.

It’s a dysphoria that I mostly just try to live with and understand that it’ll reduce over time. I have a pretty new throat tattoo so that helps mask the color gradient caused by facial hair shadow on my neck. I mostly just try to shave as close as I can using tge shaving attachment of my Braun epilator, followed by a normal men’s electric razor, and finally dry shaving prominent areas like my chin or upper lip. If I put makeup on, I use a peach color corrector (since I’m white) under foundation and concealer.

I love my electrologist and I’m glad that I’m finally seeing results and that they’ll be permanent. But I would probably opt for laser if I had to do it over again.
