Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Favorite Firefox addon that isn't just ublock, darkreader, etc? I throw out Singlefile but you probably have that
11·6 days agoI love Indie Wiki Buddy, it auto redirects fandom links to the newer official independent wikis for things that have them (minecraft is one example). God I hate fandom so much truly the worst wiki experience.
Maybe this counts as a “worse version of uBlock” but I use AdNauseam, which in addition to blocking all the ads, it registers as clicking them too, which fucks up their tracking and costs them money. I remember seeing somewhere that the ad blocking itself was based on uBlock, but I couldn’t find it on the extention page so i may have imagined it.

8·6 days agoI head that “I don’t care about cookies” got bought by Avast or something and had some spyware in it or something (can’t quite remember I looked into it a while back).
I think there’s another version called “I still don’t care about cookies” that avoids that.

Music@lemmy.world•Been trying to make an end of the world music playlist. Would love some thoughts on how I'm doing or if there's any missing music!English
1·12 days agoNot sure if it quite matches the vibe you got there, but “Goodbye to a World” by Porter Robinson feels very much like an end of the world song to me.
I saw a more detailed instagram post about this a while back which I saved:

I apologise for sending yall to Instagram, i wish the post had an actual source on it.
I’m not sure how widespread it is, I think from memory the only place i looked was Wikepedia, and it said specific to Adelaide, so i guess that one’s my bad. As for how widespread it is within Adelaide i have no clue, its the only name my friend knows it by and they live about half an hour north of the city center.
I think most places call them halal snack packs, its really just a box of chips covered in kebab meat and sauce. I will stand by Meatbox, it is a box of meat. I swear by these things, there’s always a kebab shop nearby that sells them, all the kebab shops are independent yet similar, and it’s like $15-20 (AUD) for far too much good food.
That’s crazy, how have I never heard about that. Maybe I’ll have to check that out.
One of the specific things i can remember is Meatbox and AB Pack are the same thing, just called that in WA and SA respectively.
I feel this so much in Australia. If a people on the internet remembers that Australia exists it is always like one of the same 3 jokes and nothing else ever.
On the topic of cultural variation, Australian states are really far apart, but population wise very small (mostly in the low millions). I have a friend in a different state and we just keep running into odd slang that is specific to a single state.

Something about “the world is wider than i remember” cracked me up and i cannot explain why
