Obviously don’t overdo it, obviously exercise as well, and some things like protein are better than others. At the end of the day though, you work on a deficit and you’ll lose fat, have an excess and you won’t
Diet is the major part of it, you don’t burn a ton or calories through exercise to be honest. You need to be working from a deficit to get anywhere
Or just start keeping in mind where your food is coming from. There are places that don’t do things like this
