Trump picked him because he was the only “qualified” person that would lick his shoes. The gop wants trump as a means to an end. Every other career politician with real aspirations is thinking longer term and is using him to climb the ladder 5-10 years from now, or maintain theit power and relevancy until they can move up. Vance blew his load too early. Way too early.
Trump has a very real expiration date and the professional politicians can use him as a spring board in the future. None of those politicians really wanted to be vp. Most of his political supporters absolutely loathe him. Many on record about it. Everyone who attaches themselves too close gets sent to prison or creates a very nasty bookend to their political career. Whats pence up to recently? Is he going anywhere on the national stage? Does anyone care? No? Oh well.
The list of people that got too close is very very long. But supporting him and staying at arms length has real advantages now, and in the future. They know this. they arent idiots. just greedy self serving bastards.
Half my family is dutch and many of my friends are full blooded, right off the boat dutch. Dutch humor can be so blunt and expertly delivered that it can literally cut you to the core if you arent accustomed. The only way i can describe it is if you have ever eaten dutch liquorice. Theres something about the equilibrium of this situation and bigger pieces moving that make this thing more than what it really is. I fucking hope there are files and locksafes on why this is the right course. The usa is in the wrong on face value 100% and losing a lot of popular opinion continuing this route. But they keep doubling down. I fucking want to know why. That should be the question that we are asking. I unfortunately, reluctantly, hope that there is a bigger game we arent privy to as normal citizens.
I think that the meta game is showing a little bit, where human suffering is consequential to me being a u.s citizen, and where the alternative is so much worse. I sincerely hope this is to avoid something worse, else it is inexcusable.
