I, too, am a Linux user.

Yeah… That explains the user experience Windows offers versus Mac.
Anybody who’s being honest will say Mac is nicer to use, especially non-tech people. Only nerds prefer the Windows design language over Windows.
Let’s face it: if Macs could run game as well as windows, Microsoft would go bankrupt tomorrow.

Cyberwolf@feddit.orgto Technology@lemmy.world•eSafety boss wants YouTube included in the social media ban. But AI raises even more concerns for kidsEnglish2·23 hours agoI don’t think the internet is more impervious to propaganda than cable TV tbh. YouTube has been pushing far-right propaganda since at least 2013. Quite effectively, too.
I think you’ll find that, sadly, nobody is worse for HIG than software engineers, especially Linux aficionados.
They like their design as unpalatable and shit-lookalike as possible.

They work well and get out of my way, while adding security. Just make sure you use a distro that has those things working OOTB and you’ll be fine.

As another European, I flat out trust China more than the US. They don’t make BS like this up.
It’s just their devices just aren’t up to standards. Of all, only Pixel phones have the security features GrapheneOS is looking for. If that isn’t indicative of the garbage that OEMs are putting out there, I don’t know what is.

I don’t understand why you’d say this. The US 100% did start all these fires. Not only did they start them, they keep adding wood to the fire. It’s so blatant even a blind person could see.
Billy Joel has great song and I appreciate him as an artist, but I’ll he damned if he isn’t an imperialist justifier.
When proselytizing, go where the sinners are. I don’t understand why that’s controversial.
Talking about boycotting the US on Lemmy is mostly just preaching to the choir. We’re already all Furries, anti-US, using Linux, AND a wear long colourful socks while playing with our Thinkpads.
Same thing on Google results. I don’t use Google but I use what are basically frontends for Google and all it feeds you with every search is AI-generated slop.
Every Google search must be precedented by writing “Reddit”, now.

What you mean to say is 25% of Windows users still use windows 7.
Its still an alarming statistic, and no wonder bruteforce cyberattacks are still so effective today considering it hasn’t received security updates in like 10 years.
I sincerely hope those people aren’t connecting their devices to the internet like, at all.
I’m fairly sure at this point even using a Debian based distro is better than sticking to windows 7.
Cyberwolf@feddit.orgto Technology@lemmy.world•Microsoft accidentally swapped Windows 11’s startup sound with Vista’sEnglish2·10 days agoI understand, but my point is that MacOS is more than serviceable as a work-focused operating system. It is more than capable to replace Windows as long as you’re willing to accept a different work flow.
If you’re already on Linux then great, stay there. But the average consumer wants something easier to use, and MacOS is easy. More importantly, it doesn’t treat you like garbage like Windows does.
Speaking of, this video came to mind.
