Welp, better than nothing, right?
I wonder if more Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite-related code was merged.
Wdym? Google Wallet won’t work, that’s correct, but if your banking app works and has a built-in nfc payments support, then you’ll be alright.
Aurora is cool, if you’re okay with using an immutable distro. It is Fedora Atomic-based with KDE on top, so it is stable, but relevant. All necessary drivers are set up out of the box, but less pre-installed apps than Bazzite.
Zen looks good, but it isn’t hardened enough and I don’t wanna bother with hardening it myself with Arkenfox when I could just keep using Librewolf.
For a second I thought I was completely lost in time and Android 16 is coming out already.
Not 100% up to date, of course, but for the most part, it still applies. And furthermore, trusting a company with that kind of reputation is definetely not a good idea.
more privacy focused browser
Librewolf is the best, Mullvad Browser is cool, if you use their VPN, ungoogled-chromium is good, if you need a chromium based browser. Despite its popularity among privacy-enthusiasts Brave is virtually a spyware.
I honestly don’t understand, why people are using VLC instead of mpv. Is there really any advantages?
First of all, lack of third party repos support locks you down behind only one source of applications. And second of all, because optionally free is not enough.
In a way, yes.
It depends. If we only mention security, then there’s (probably) nothing to worry about. However, if you look at it from the perspective of the FLOSS movement, Accrescent does not support any third-party repos, claiming that they are “breaking the Android security model”, and also allows submitting closed-source apps to the repo.
I’m so bummed that Accrescent is now part of the built-in App Store on GrapheneOS and is gaining popularity because of it.
Among modern devices, only Google Pixels support re-locking on custom ROMs, IIRC.
EDIT: Looks like, modern OnePlus devices can be re-locked too.
EDIT 1: Same goes for SHIFT6mq.
GrapheneOS
Google Pixels are the only options with this one.
No-Ad Modded Spotify from Balatan
Have you tried Spotube? It is a no ads YouTube Music client, that fetches your library from Spotify.
I can’t recommend you a specific device, but can suggest a Bootloader Unlock: Wall of Shame, which can help you choose a device, as you are planning to install a custom ROM, like Lineage. Best of luck with your device search!
While your post is just: it doesn’t work on my computer, so Linux is bad for a normal user.
There will be. LadyBird and Servo. And I’m gonna ditch Firefox as soon, as they’ll become viable.
