  • When someone says someone is legally trespassing read it as “legally [speaking they are] trespassing”. At least in most cases.

    Pedantic tangent:

You could lawfully trespass on the land of another (with permission). There’s 4 elements to the tort of trespass to land. 1) You act volitionally. 2) You intend to occupy that space, are substantially certain that will happen as a result of your actions, or you intend another intentional tort granting transfered intent. 3) But for your act their property wouldn’t have been invaded. 4) Their property has been invaded.

In civil law a trespass to land doesn’t consider whether you have permission or not to determine if you trespassed. They would determine that you did infact trespass but you have the defense of having done so with the privilege to do so granted by the owner. Meaning you did trespass but did so only in a manner appropriate under law.

I think their contention was that it was an established thing that this sort of lighting was bisexual.

According to BOWIE Creators, the concept of bisexual lighting was invented in 2014 by a Tumblr fan of Sherlock who believed that the lighting was being used to signal that Dr. Watson was bisexual and would eventually be in a romantic relationship with Sherlock Holmes.

Based on the history tab it seems more like an Urban Dictionary thing. The examples section has this:

Lara Thompson, a lecturer of film at Middlesex University, has argued that bisexual lighting is not well-known, stating: “I would have to see more examples before I see bisexual lighting as a wholly convincing phenomenon”.

It seems to me like a form of symbolism that has happened a few times based on the wiki article rather than an established trope.

  • I think Coolidge is definitely underrated even if he couldnt predict the future depression. For his time a very progressive guy (I’d say most progressive, for the day) and he understood the limits the people put on his position and held himself back to those standards. The worst thing he did was signing the Immigration Act despite his concerns raised in a sworn statement.

No man is perfect in history but in terms of even keeled presidents I think Coolidge stood out.

Not that Coolidge was an ideal to strive for. But he really did respect what he understood to be the limits placed on his position.
