This will probably sound rude, but I don’t mean it to be: what is the point of this comment?

I agree with you that America as a whole deserves whatever it is getting right now, but I also believe collective punishment is immoral. Everyone who voted against this doesn’t deserve it, that doesn’t mean anyone else has an obligation to save them from it, but they definitely don’t deserve it.

So why laugh at Americans, or rub this in their faces? Especially here on this platform where almost everyone is directly opposed to the current administration, and didn’t vote for it. If you were saying this to Trump supporters I guess I could understand it, but it still wouldn’t help anything.

So I’m genuinely curious, do you think this kind of comment helps anything? If so, what?

I support trans people, but I still feel a little bit uncomfortable around them because of my conservative upbringing and how hard “trans = bad” was driven into my head. I’m working on improving that and every time I interact with someone who is trans I become a little bit more comfortable with it.

If I ever felt the need to tell someone this feeling, I think I would completely rephrase it to avoid this situation anyway.

What a tragic story. What happened to her things? Was she able to get any of them back? Also wondering why if the police could take her things, why couldn’t they also take her bus?

I hope we can stop these kind of sweeps from happening, but in the current reality, I’m just trying to understand what someone in this kind of situation should do to best protect themselves.
