  • These are all from my childhood, my mom used to do them, usually while pointing at the thing. Often just to trick us into looking at something dumb so she could laugh, so now I do it too.

When passing a graveyard: look! Dead people!

    When passing cows: look! Cows!

When passing cornfields, though not all the time cuz there are so many where I grew up: I had a joke for you, but its too corny.

When passing a sign that says STOP AHEAD: face palm stop a head!

No u-turn sign: no, sign, you turn, I don’t want to!

And a bunch of other little things like that. Needless to say the first long trip with new passengers is a blast for me.

  • “Make my coffee look like an egg bagle, and make it taste like you dipped a glazed donut into it, but without actually doing that, I don’t want chunky coffee”

That’s how I used to order my coffee from the donut place at 3 am before my 4 am airport shift. I was young, i’ve grown, but they always got it basically right. I make my own now, much much darker with less sugar. With just as much questionable content. Because I have ONE good coffee and top it off until it sucks and I don’t want more.

  • I took a single fuse out of my 2023 chevy bolt and it disabled all that shit. There’s an onstar module behind the infotainment screen that appears to be pretty easy to disable if you want to keep gps and thus location-based charging active. I personally don’t care about that, so fuse was plenty.

It’s also just a very basic vehicle overall, with physical buttons for most stuff (so touchscreen doesn’t get used much while driving), which I like coming from a 2012 honda civic. The only real modern thing it seems to have other than infotainment is the backup camera, and that’s a decade old requirement already.

Also, if it matters to you, chevy bolt runs on open source software. You can audit it right on your dash panel, if you so choose.

Edit: looks like there’s a fork of openpilot for it as well for mostly self-driving? Idk if I’d trust that, but kinda neat. I thought it was a fork of the OS, but its not.
