I don’t remember anyone promising anything. Just that sabotaging Harris out of spite was objectively bad and that you could bash Dems as much as you want after the election.
Nobody promised a revolution.
Well yeah, and if more people did that we wouldn’t be dealing with nearly as many problems as we currently are.
Short term, sure.
But it would be exactly like Biden’s four years. Nothing gets fixed, lots of horrible shit still happens, and four years later we’re still choosing between a douche and a turd sandwich.
If Kamala would have won, she’d have named the DNC chair, and she’d have named another neoliberal with no interest in giving voters what they want.
It obviously would have been better if elderly neoliberals had just stepped aside for any subsequent generation, but you know that never was going to happen.
So long term, Kamala losing might be for the best because it gave us the chance to fix the party. Just like long term it probably would have been best for Biden to have lost and trump to have been prez back to back instead of kicking the can down the road which only normalized it
Nothing gets fixed,
You can’t be simultaneously mad at Trump for reversing Biden’s work and claim that Biden fixed nothing. Biden wasn’t perfect but he was doing good things.
There won’t be a long term.
Anyone claiming that Biden was senile needs to look at the current incumbent. Anyone claiming that Harris was overly emotional, needs to look at the current incumbent.
The only way out of this is to completely destroy the GOP, just like we have completely destroyed the Australian Coalition last month… Only then can things be turned around.
Anyone claiming that Biden was senile needs to look at the current incumbent
Hot take:
Two elderly racists can both be simultaneously senile.
In fact recent events would point to large amounts of people like that in America.
That doesn’t mean we got to pick one to be president
It does actually. The system is rigged to only allow two viable candidates. Anyone who says otherwise is either a conman or just foolish. You must pick one, or the rest of the country will pick for you, and you will get nothing.
There are rare situations when a party breaks up, allowing the other party to win, but those are increasingly uncommon, because everyone knows how it will end up.
It does actually
So …
You think the only two people who could have won the election is Biden or trump?
That’s fucking crazy considering Biden dropped out due to record unpopularity…
Almost like you’re wrong…
Two elderly racists can both be simultaneously senile.
The “Biden is racist” is based on Biden’s crime bill from over 30 years ago THAT WAS DEMANDED BY THE BLACK CAUCUS. It didn’t work out as well as the Black Caucus expected, but blacks as a percentage of inmates did go down.
And this somehow made Biden as racist as Trump.
“Both sides bad” is how we got Trump. Stop repeating right wing talking points.
Yeah, great attitude. You really scored a huge win there, didn’t you?
Always a silver lining…
Like, the DNC just ran out two shitbird neoliberal superdelegatess who were on the committee in charge of primaries and kept fucking rigging them.
I see that as an absolute win.
One we had no chance of getting if Kamala had won the election. She would have picked a biased DNC chair who would have rewarded them for their biases. But Kamala lost and the voting members of the DNC were able to move the party substantially left for the first time since before Jimmy Carter.
So yeah, it’s a fucking huge win I’ve personally waited over 30 years for…
As I’ve said, long term I’m psyched for the future of America, this is literally the most optimistic I’ve ever been in fact.
Next 4 years will suck, really really bad, and worse for me personally than for the vast majority of American citizens. But it’s always darkest before the dawn. We’re all lined up for an FDR still Dem with supermanorities, an actual chance to fix shit.
It’s too bad ninety million others chose not to, or we could have.
And you were told that if you vote for Trump you will never have to vote again.
And what they heard was: “And you’ll never have to think again!”
This also applies to Biden. So many leftists held their nose for Biden due to his progressive promises and in order to “usher in” a new generation of progressives afterwards.
Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.
Martin just ran out two members of the Rules and Bylaws committee…
Two neoliberal superdelegates who were literally and figuratively the problem with the party.
Ironically enough, the voting members of the DNC wouldn’t have had the chance to make this pivot to the left if more people had held their nose for Kamala.
When a Dem becomes president, they pick the DNC chair and a vote is performative. If Kamala had won, the party would have stayed in the hands of neoliberals and they’d keep running sham primaries…
Which brings me full circle to Martin running Saunders and Weingarten out of the party, they were on the committee that sets rules for primaries.
So the Dem party is being fixed, it’s just billionaires own the media and they’d rather Republicans win if a progressive makes it to the general. So there’s a push to get people disengaged from the party, if that allows a neoliberals to win the primary, the media will suddenly stop talking shit about the Dem party again.
Unfortunately too many people decided she didn’t hate Israel enough and sat out the election. And the democrats aren’t changing either way.
Which entertaining that Harris was as bad as Trump on Israel/Gaza policy (she wasn’t), every person who sat out objectively said, “I also don’t care about Russia’s genocide in Ukraine, Women’s bodily autonomy, climate change, vaccination policy, or LGBTQ+ rights.”
Suckers fell for the bullshit.
In a winner-take-all election, anything but a vote for the runner-up is an endorsement of whoever wins.
Yes, this system is stupid. But we’re not going to ever fix it by pretending that the rules of the game aren’t what they are. Any eligible voter who didn’t vote for Trump or Harris make a clear statement that Donald and protect 2025 were just fine by them. Regardless if they stayed home, voted for a vanity campaign, or just left the POTUS choice blank.
If anything, they learned the wrong lessons
I’ve seen polls showing that many progressives voted and many right-leaning democrats didn’t so I think the answer is to lean harder right to capture those votes.
Biggest flaw IMO is it seems like they just are going with a binary “left – right”. rather than specific issues as well.
IE, when the democratic party “leans right”, they adopt, cut taxes on corporations, they basically give the right their narratives.
IE Republicans on immigration:
There’s millions of murderous drug cartel pet eating monsters in this country wrecking everything, we need to get them all out of here by any means necessary.
Dems response: We should absolutely get them out of here, but it’s worth it to do it slowly and keep due process.
The obvious problem being to the uneducated voter they hear “The parties agree, there are lots of horrible murderers here, do I care more about the rights of the murderers, or getting them out before there are victims”.
That wasn’t the only issue…
For example, she became pro border wall and pro fracking.
Other stuff too, in virtually every aspect she intentionally set her policy positions to the right of the Dem voting base to court the mythical “moderate Republicans” who stopped calling themselves Republicans decades ago.
Kamala losing was the result of the “who else will the left vote for, if not me”.
And like normally happens, the answer was “no one”.
We know how it works out because it keeps being the only choice, and Dems keep losing.
There’s a lot of space between hating Israel and being Israel’s lapdog. Kamala didn’t use any of it.
They aren’t changing because they don’t need to. The job is already done, their public was successfully manipulated into blaming anyone but the actual people that are in charge of rhe party and the platform itself. Enabling and scapegoating does not lead to change.
well, she did win the election….
https://www.reddit.com/r/somethingiswrong2024/
and it’s not based on gut feelings… it’s based on hard data… statistically impossible things….
it’s hard to communicate the stats but we have things like:
a county where 3 people voted for harris, and 900 people voted for trump, but then democrat on every other option… where historically it had been mostly democrats…
trump actually said directly they rigged the election, multiple times. Musk said he basically stole it and even said how the election would’ve went had he not… and his numbers checked out.
the polling data isn’t public everywhere yet, but it was a widespread hack of voting machines, just about everywhere they’ve analyzed.
….
there is overwhelming evidence at this point, but it’s hard to communicate because of all the bullshit trump said about biden stealing the election….
of course, their election “audits” were how they prepared for stealing this one…
it didn’t make much news, but they obtained the source code for the voting machines… to audit….
Imagine being a Democrat…
“oops sowwy. we were only going to reform the party if we win. looks like we gotta stay late-stage capitalists and keep benefiting from fascists existing. dang”
I dont remember anyone promising to reform the party. The point was to stop infighting until after the election and agree that she was the better option.
if you run in any of the farther left spaces where she’s kind of hated the pro-kamela rhetoric within was “secure democrat victory to protect the country from fascists, then bully democrats into actually representing the values they pretend to champion”
that’s the conversation this meme is referring to. not democrats promising to change, leftists saying we can change democrats after we make sure they win their races against fascists

Kamala was picked without the people’s input, which is bad
-
This comic trivializes Trump’s authoritarianism by equating the two, which is bad
They picked her as VP in 2020. If Biden had a heart attack on the debate stage, she’d be the incumbent.
Biden, was entrusted with the nomination. It was out of the people’s hands after that point. And ultimately the transfer was in his hands.
In addition to the fact that nobody serious ran against her, and it’s just a really unfortunate circumstance. It wasn’t authoritarianism.
I wish we had an open primary. Hell, Harris might have won if she came out of it as the DNC leader, which would probably require a harder stance on Biden.
-
This always struck me as an odd argument. I hadn’t voted for the Democratic candidate since 2008 (all 3rd party), and I hate how they run their primary. But this was EXACTLY what registered democrats voted for in the primary.
There was a primary, and a published, publicly available ticket of Biden/Harris. That ticket had all the deligates, all the funds, all the votes. It was VERY clear who was being voted for and who Biden’s successor would be in the highly possible event something should happen to him. When he bowed out and endorsed her, the deligates, acting in good faith… went to her.
Literally any other outcome would have been unfair to the primary voters. Maybe better, but not what they voted for.
