Trump's plan sets a 10% baseline tariff across the board. But the president's list makes it clear that many countries will face significantly higher rates.
Trump claims 39% tariffs in EU of US goods. This is absolutely insane.
IDK what the current tariffs were before increases today. But I was in the import business in the 90’s of computer equipment, and it was typically around 4% back then from USA.
I’ve been trying to figure out the general level of tariffs in EU, but I simply can’t.
The official Danish site requires all sorts of obscure data before I can look it up. 🤨
Anyone in the know about this, could you give us a hint about where about it was before this shit show?
Good examples IMO would be: Computers, Cars, Shoes, Clothing, Wine, Soy beans.
That 39% figure claimed by the U.S. is widely disputed with the World Trade Organization saying the EU’s average tariff rate was 4.9% in 2024.
…
“Nevertheless, considering the actual trade in goods between the EU and U.S., in practice the average tariff rate on both sides is approximately 1%. In 2023, the U.S. collected approximately 7 billion euros [$6.35 billion] of tariffs on EU exports, and the EU collected approximately 3 billion euros on U.S. exports,” the Commission said.
That’s weird, because I read the entire article, and I don’t see that anywhere?
A search on the page for some of the key words, doesn’t turn up anything either?
I even looked at the article linked in the article, still nothing…???
So what article exactly are you referring to?
That’s an excellent question. Pretty sure the page I copied that quote from looks a lot like the linked page. I don’t have other pages about this topic in my browsing history. Either CNCB edited the page, or my browser forgot a page.
Thanks anyway, it was exactly the information I was looking for, but it would have been nice with a source.
But the info fits my expectations pretty well.

He is a liar
Trump thinks sales taxes are tariffs so that might be why
AFAIK, no country in the EU has sales tax. They do have value added tax. Is that what you meant?
Yep, same thing
Oh boy really?
You are probably right, but there’s still some way to go to reach 39%
