Hey, #mstdnca folks, some news to share.
We’re in our 4th birthday month!
As many know, we’ve been working toward non-profit status. Despite hurdles, we’ve been fighting to get there.
This morning, I’m excited to announce that I’ve accepted Rogers Media’s purchase offer to acquire the instance.
I’m excited to see where we go from here and hope all are excited too!
UPDATE: April Fools!! 🤪
He got me
Damn it … my blood boiled for a split second because in this day in age, this kind of announcement wouldn’t surprise me.
I’ve been had … I’ve been took … led astray … bamboozled … run amok … I’ve been made a fool
New server rule: you will be banned unless you call it Rogers Xfinity Mastodon from now on. /s
I know it was technically the lower bid, but I had high hopes for the Loblaws offer.
That bid was garbage.
(This will be funnier if, like me, you first knew Loblaws as garbage truck people)
- There is a seed of truth here, that big corporations just buy up all our information networks. Here is a list of acquisition resistant, Canadian Owned and operated media.
- Isn’t April Fools only supposed to happen before noon?
It’s not supposed to happen at all.
Text-based information systems are not a place for “fun” “pranks”.
I raged, then I laughed.
