Someone kill this guy please. Make sure it’s during a live TV session so there is enough footage to enjoy and celebrate to. Make use of that 2nd amendment.

    Also I wouldn’t be sad about a K overdose.

This is the thing that constantly amazes me about Trump et al.

They are idiots. If Trump had just sat back and let the GOP operatives like his first Cheif of Staff Reince Priebus run things he’d have sailed into a second term. Instead he try to run things himself when he had no idea what he was doing.

If Musk had run this DOGE nonsense past a team of lawyers he could have done everything without raising an eyebrow.

They both need to be seen as geniuses, when real geniuses are content to let the work speak for itself.

They aren’t stupid. Stupid people cannot take over an entire government of a country with 350+ million people.

They are just narcissists and think the world revolves around them. And in the USA, apparently it does. That’s why they can just freely do whatever they want.

Where are the protests? And no, 10 people standing next to a Tesla dealership with cardboard signs are not a protest. They’re a joke.

Hitler could have won WW2 at Dunkirk. He didn’t want the army to get all the credit, so he held them back so the air force could finish the job.

Lyndon Johnson was one of the best political minds of his time; he decided that he could win in Vietnam with one major push.

You can be really smart and incredibly dumb at the same time.

Well yeah I guess you’re not wrong? Now that I think about it, buying twitter with his own Tesla shares was probably probably the dumbest thing he did so far. Hope he pays for it. With his 🧠🔫.

The original novel and movie MASH are worth a look, even if you’ve seen the show.

In the original version, Frank Burns is a decent surgeon, not a stooge like on TV. What makes him hated is his arrogance. If a patient lives it’s because Frank is a great doctor, and if they die it’s God’s will.

I see that a lot in MAGoo circles.

Sorry, maybe I’m stupid. But could you send me the name of the movie in DM? I know you only left out a *. But I can’t find anything. I’m an actual idiot tbh.

I’m not the guy, and this isn’t a PM. But the movie/book/tv show is called MAS*H.

Edit: Lemmy doesn’t seem to like the proper spelling and autocorrects it. It’s called MASH, with asterisks between the letters. (Acronym for Mobile Army Surgical Hospital)

Oh thank you so much, I was confused by the asterisk but apparently it wasn’t even necessary. Most confusing asterisk ever tho haha.

I wish I could tip you. Have a nice day!

                  Asterisks are used in markdown.

One at each end of a letter, word or phrase does italics. Two does bold, three does bold italaics.

                  Hence, m * a * s * h treats the A as italics, (MAS*H)and the single one after s as an individual *

If you want to do it where it visually works, you have to use the \ to escape the asterisk

Iirc, to get m*a*s*h you slap the backspace in front of each asterisk, but I can’t be sure, so I may need to edit this a few times until I get it right, then edit in the correct process

Edit: yup! \ in front of each asterisk does it.

                  OP here.

Funny thing. When I posted I saw it as I wrote it [three asterisks]. When I went back to view it it was MAS asterisk H. When I went to edit it I saw the original three asterisks.

Who knows how this stuff works?

Homie, there’s more than protests going on.

It’s still in its reactionary and infantile stage, but it’s past cardboard signs and into small scale attacks at easy targets.

Which ain’t much, tbh. But you try getting people that are itching to do something now to do something more controlled and useful that takes planning an coordination.

It’s even in the news. There’s posts about it on lemmy, and other fediverse communications. But it isn’t being shown as much on normal news outlets in the US, except when it’s big enough to make local news until ego makes someone like musk take to social media outlets and make it known that way.

Right now, everything is low key, vandalism level action, but it is actual people, on the ground taking action that isn’t waving signs.

It’s even in the news? Oh wow. Sorry man I’m not trying to be rude at all. I’m sure that especially the Americans that are active here, are one of the most anti-trump ever. Don’t get me wrong.

But yes. It takes organisation. Where is it tho? Like, when are you gonna organise? You already have a literal concentration camp. It’s not in your own borders. As a German, this sounds… familiar.

How much more needs to happen?

Nah, no worries, it didn’t read as rude.

It’s the whole slow immersion thing. Two years ago, people talking about how dangerous this could be were banned from some places online.

Now, you’ve got some of the less complacent arming themselves the way those of us a bit more pessimistic in our outlook did years ago.

But, being real, people have been saying for decades that what the nazis did couldn’t happen again. But pretty much every major power in the world still had some degree of power madness that got directed against the weakest, the poorest, the most vulnerable. Germany, that saw it first hand, isn’t immune to it, there’s a far right party there that’s just barely restraining themselves from goose stepping and heil-ing.

Here in the US? We were built on taking other people and demolishing them. For all the good that the constitution represents, it was written by the same kind of people that owned slaves.

We’ve had what amounts to concentration camps for over a decade, though you’ll hear people say they aren’t concentration camps because there’s no executions going on. Hell, our prisons amount to concentration camps what with the way they treat the people in them.

So, it’ll take a lot more than what’s going on. The people alive today didn’t pay attention to history, or want the status quo to return so badly that they’ll accept the fascism until it’s too late.

Seriously, it isn’t just the US, the remnants of fascism never went away. But, here in the US, we pretended like there weren’t nazis here. And we rode that post war wave of wealth into a capitalist hellscape that leaves so many people so unable to do anything but work and lose hope that they just want things to blow over rather than fight even harder.

So, it’s going to come down to a very small amount of us trying to turn things around, and we’ll probably fail.
