I think Curb your enthusiasm should be somewhere on that list,no other show has had me laughing so hard my stomach hurts.

It’s one of my personal favorites, but I am still a bit surprised to see House so high on the list.

Imo one notable absence from this list is “The good place”, which imo is among the all time greats, managing to stay consistently good from start to finish.

Also I actually haven’t seen the other true detective seasons, but heard they aren’t even close to as good as the first one. So i assume the rating is heavily carried by it?

I think the show is great like generally the characters and the sitcom plot and I love most things Micheal Schur makes.

But man as someone who’se actually studied Moral Philosophy, the show is really tough to watch because it oversimplifies and misinterprets so much and Chidi is just not a believable character if you know what you’re talking about. It feels more like pop-culture buzzfeed philosophy quiz sprinkled with stereoptypes than actual ethics.

That description certainly doesn’t sound right, when talking about putting it up with the greatest series of all time.

I enjoyed House, but I would never call it a good show. Enjoyable, sure.

I’d call an enjoyable show good, but that is just semantics. However regardless I would call house a good show, even if I acknowledge that I am a bit biased.

It does have it’s flaws, which is why I wouldn’t put it up for debate as objectively one of the best shows of all time (just subjectively rank it high).

The one case per episode format of course doesn’t quite lend itself to high cinema. And it also doesn’t have the realism as something like the pitt, to take a recent example. Plus I guess final seasons weren’t quite as strong with a weaker team (that admittedly also didnt have the time for us to get to know them as well) and Lisa Edelstein didn’t return for the final season due to failed salary negotiations.

But imo the series has a lot of strong points: Hugh Laurie as House did an outstanding job, and imo some of the others such as Robert Sean Leonard as Wilson as well. Despite the episodic format it had some imo good character arcs. And episodes like “House’s head”/“Wilson’s heart”, “three stories”, “three stories” or “one day, one room” are outstanding cinema that certainly put it in the “good show” category.

How in the fuck is the x files not on it. You’re going to look me in the face and say lost is better than the x files.

“Sorry, I just love cliffhangers that have no purpose other than to add commercial breaks and then not actually pay off.”

You’re going to tell me friends, the show that wrote the book for basic ass misunderstanding sitcoms is better than the x files.

I better just have missed it, or this world really is fucked.

Also what about ER? And SVU? Just the Robin Williams episode alone should be at like #14.

And wasn’t MASH the most watched show ever at one point?

At least Chernobyl is right where it belongs.

Same with Game of Thrones. For a plot driven show, the inability to stick the landing is a huge negative for me. Same reason why Lost is such a terrible show.

I don’t know there are more similarities than I initially thought:

          • a lot of mystery of the others / whitewalkers
          • a lot of politics around leadership and vying factions
          • some mystical element around saving the world
          • a complete flop on wrapping up the ending in a meaningful way

I mean it’s been forever since I watched Lost, so my recollection may be off, but they’re not a dissimilar as you’d think.

Peep Show is in there so it’s not just U.S. based. Though the ratings sites used probably have a high proportion of American voters.
