Meaningless, but definitely not harmless. I tried ignoring them. They will poison everyone else around you against you. I actually lost a friend like this. Psycho bipolar girl from highschool just wouldn’t let go and she went after my best friend at the time and just, fuck, poisoned her brain with lies about me until we eventually lost all contact. It was wild. It was like, “where the fuck is this shit coming from? The fuck did I do?”, until I learned post facto where it did, in fact, come from.
Being the bigger person and just take it is NOT always a winning strategy. Play dead only works when the bear isn’t very hungry.
And then there’s a few who do nothing but talk about others as a means of getting attention. Fuck them.
