I used to attend an event that happened every March. They sold calendars that went from March to the next March, when you presumably attend again and buy the next one. No reason really for a calendar to start with January.

Sounds like prorating. They do that with rent. For example, if I move in on the fifteenth, I’ll only pay half month’s rent that month.
But, I have a desktop calendar right now. It’s one of those daily tear-away calendars. It has “Far Side” comics, so I see a new comic every day. I don’t really have it so that I know that day it is. It’s on my desk, so I just look at my computer menubar.

I like having a paper calendar at my desks. It’s just easy to see what day of the week a day is. I’ll add stuff like concerts or birthdays so I have passive warning rather than making specific reminder sin my phone calendar.

Here we usually get emotionally coerced into buying one from the local firefighters. They used to be a big cardboard panel with all or half the months on one side, which were great to fan a barbecue but nowadays they have fancier stuff that I didn’t find a secondary (primary, really) use for.
Noobs, just buy the calendar after the year it represents is over, simply wait 27 years and voilá, you have a calendar that shows the correct days, days of the week, etc.

Less useful most definitely, but those are still used.
I have one at my home, though yeah that sees minimal use. Usually next to the fridge and birthday invites or any invites are usually stored on the fridge. It’s a quick glance to the calendar to see where that specific date lands in the week.
Similar reason why we have one at work. At manufacturing, all the runs we do have shipment date and it’s easier to just glance at the calendar on the wall to see how much time there’s left to determine most efficient way to organize different runs.
My SO has like 3 calendars and doesn’t use the one on her phone.

I think this is a function of them not being as common and maybe even a more on demand kind of thing. Growing up they practically gave them away after christmass. Literally they were given away but even fancy calendars about all sorts of niche hobbies would be like 90% off by mid january.

I bought an Animal Crossing calendar for the kitchen. It’s cute.
If you’re in the Apple ecosystem, use the digital calendar. If not, use Google’s. Set your yearly stuff like birthdays and anniversaries to repeat. Sync up between your desktop, laptop, phone, watch, whatever. Paper calendars can’t compete. Planner folks have been doing this for decades. Anyone can do it for free now.
The main reason I got the nexus 7 was basically to put calendar items in which auto synced when you got back home and hit your wifi.
I still have a Nexus 7 kicking around somewhere. I had it password locked and forgot the password, so I had to go back into TWRP and wipe. It’s running some kind of CyanogenMod. I’m fine with that. But it’s practically useless for anything. Maybe I could mount it and run its cable cleverly behind something, use it for… I dunno. It’s pretty small. Those huge bezels! IIRC the speaker sucks, but it could Bluetooth to something. The only wireless speaker I have is a HomePod Mini (Apple), though, so that’s a no go.

I know of a company where you can order custom calendars with your own photos and design and IIRC you can make those start in any month, they can be for any period of 12 consecutive months.
