As A tribe called quest was mentioned because of their use of Ian Dury & The Blockheads’ What a waste I thought I might as well post the other main 70s classic that they also sampled; Lou Reed’s Walk on the wild side. Produced by David Bowie alongside excellent arrangements from Mick Ronson and an iconic double baseline from the last, great Herbie Flowers (who earned more money writing Grandad for Clive Dunn (probably only known in the UK) than he ever got as a session player on this).
