The whole point of the ban is to keep china from spying on US citizens. To move to another chinese platform is crazy to me! You know we have like instagram and facebook etc… the chinese propaganda is powerful!

The US said the quiet part out loud that the reason for the TikTok ban is because young people were seeing media of the horrific acts of the Israeli regime and its genocide on Palestine, and the US did not have the ability to control the narrative and censor content on TikTok.

I’m not acting like anything, the government is. Some of the reasons to your question include: the law is slow, TikTok is among the most popular, banning more apps would further kill the illusion that it is for OuR pRoTeCtIoN, and the US is trying to manufacture consent with a war with China by spreading anti-China propaganda and is failing to do so. The US wants to use its own tech and internet companies as a way to protect US hegemony and to not let other nations develop their own tech sovereignty. China’s Great Firewall is a protectionist policy that encourages their citizens to use and develop their own tech sovereignty, and now as they are starting to surpass the US internet companies, they are opening the doors to their platforms and giving people across the world a chance to connect on a truly global platform. Chinese citizens do not go to prison for using a VPN to access content in other countries. Europe is now considering their own Great Firewall as they realized that they are very dependent on US infrastructure, and such a firewall would help encourage their own internet industries to develop and improve their own sovereignty. US servers are also proving to be not safe for other countries to host websites given this aggressive ban and hostile behavior against foreign content which harms their hegemony.

Yes yes tik tok is harmless until its not… banning tiktok is not a freedom of speech issue but a massive security issue for the us. Also tiktok in china is not allowed to make china look bad so how long until those things make it to the US tiktok. You might not think its a good idea but I know its a great idea! China should of sold it now they deserve the ban!

Explain to me what TikTok did that was harmful. Explain to me how they used the data for malicious purposes. Also explain to me how US based companies like Meta, Google, Amazon, etc. aren’t doing the same thing and actually provide that information to the police to develop the surveillance and police state here. What’s China going to do with our data, sell it to AliExpress to make us treats?

The US officially recognizes the One China Rule, that Taiwan is a province in China, the PRC is the legitimate government of China, and that China and Taiwan should resolve their differences peacefully, which is the point of the One China Rule. Despite this, the US has funded $44 billion and created various military exchange programs for “Taiwan’s defense”, and China opposes this as obviously we don’t have a good track record with not funding and attacking foreign countries for our own gain. US wants to start a war with China because its hegemony is crumbling, and they want to keep the rich in power and not work toward a system where the workers benefit from universal healthcare, affording housing, etc.

Pretty sure the US military already have their own internal rules against using foreign apps. As for average citizens, you really think China’s going to send a CCP agent over to assassinate Joe Smoe in Wisconsin for saying mean things to China?

ohh thank god there are internal rules! Everyone follows the rules right? that’s why some idiot shared sensitive information on a Discord channel not too long ago. The concept is called “Zero Trust” its very popular in the cyber security field. It means what it says do not trust the user to follow internal rules. Banning TikTok = Zero Trust and the correct thing to do. Taiwan must remain a free country and we should not give China even an inch.

The point of the ban is to punish a company that won’t let the US spy on its users. To move to another Chinese app is self preservation for anyone that doesn’t want the most brutal regime ever to have existed to decide what information they’re allowed to share and receive. The US is the most propagandised place on earth.
