“In 2024, a study by the Institute for Fiscal Studies (IFS) showed the bill for a weekly shop among the poorest UK households increased by far more than that among wealthy homes at the height of the cost of living crisis, as the sharpest price rises affected cheaper brands and poorer households devote a large share of their budgets to necessities .”
Don’t worry citizens, there is no recession.
I can see that as wealthier households can afford big box warehouse membership and to buy in bulk. My last hustle bought my big box membership and I felt it worth it at the time, since a disabled neighbor often has doctor appointments in the general vicinity, but with current price rises, I’m seriously beginning to wonder if I messed up. I’m still donating some food items but it’s seriously curtailed and I don’t know if I can do it much longer. My village is seriously underserved and I’m concerned about people being unable to find shelter, let alone eat, especially hot meals. Canned fuel is expensive, as well.
