    In 2016 - 2019 or so he hadn’t consolidated his power in the Republican party. He still had lots of people who were ‘traditional’ conservatives in his cabinet and in Congress who weren’t drinking his kool-aid and often told him no, or redirected his attention while they did the job they’d normally do.

    There’s no such brakes this time around.

      Shit was already off the rails well before 2015. The Tea Party movement paved the way for the previously inconceivable idea of a Trump puppet running for office.
