A bid to recognise Cambridgeshire’s chalk streams as a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site will be put before parliament by a local MP.

South Cambridge MP Pippa Heylings will introduce a ten minute rule bill to give the rivers the same protections as the white cliffs of Dover, the Jurassic coast and the Great Barrier Reef.

Chalk streams are extremely rare, with only 260 true chalk streams on Earth - making them rarer than the Bengal tiger.
