So, I was reading A Jewish State by Theodor Herzl to hopefully get some perspective on the history of Zionism and came across this on page 36. Theodor Herzl (for those who aren’t familiar) is essentially the founder of the modern Zionist movement and this is his seminal work. This section essentially is meant to talk about commerce and what the economy of the new Jewish state would look like. There are other mentions in A Jewish State of colonization, but this was perhaps the most damning paragraph there was because it talks about having enough male colonists to ‘quell mutinies’. I suppose Israel ethnonationalists have since tried to dumb down their rhetoric and pretend they are ‘indigenous’, but if you want to know what the people think you either find someone stupid enough to admit it or take it straight from the horse’s mouth.
