Surely Mikel being the guy that thinks of everything has a plan for this? I definitely don’t think the Spuds will amount to anything, it’s Citeh I’m concerned with. At least Dec will be back for that. The cup tie vs Bolton I really do hope the puts the younglings in.
Given our injury situation at the moment, I will be extremely disappointed if he doesn’t put at least three academy players in for the cup tie. It would be disastrous to have everything cascade into more injuries.
I do believe the PL2 team have played teams of that level in the Pizza Cup, they certainly can hold their own.
As much as I’m upset that we suddenly have so many players injured, we should be able to field an academy team + Gabriel and Saliba and do just fine.
You would risk Gabriel and Saliba?

I think there’s something to be said for letting Setford have a go. We’re never going to sus out whether he’s got elite potential if we don’t put him in those situations now.

Any chance that we’ll use their own Mourinho against Spuds? I really think Mikel needs to become more comfortable with (temporarily) abandoning his desire for possession-based play. Principles are principles, but winning is winning.
