When I say winter is kicking my ass I mean it. Fucking hell.
My sleeping schedule is completely broken, while people are getting up to go to work I’m not even close to be heading to sleep. Since I started taking blood thinners my lips are 3x more dry than usual (I’ve always had this problem ever since I was young) and bleed and hurt. Any scratch on my lips is now guaranteed to bleed. Now just like last winter my eyes are weirdly sore and it can be painful around my eyes when I blink. I use moisturizer for that which helps and will probably do warm water compresses too but I still have no answer for what that is exactly. A bunch of other stuff too.
It’s just an accumulation of one thing after another. if something clears up? something else comes up to replace it. You never get a fucking break.
And I feel like when I talk about it to doctors they don’t seem to care. I had/have weird streaks on my skin that I got checked out by a dermatologist, she said it’s probably some sort of eczema, try this soap. Didn’t do anything for 3 months. She shrugged and said give it more time. bruh just fix it?? My skin didn’t have these problems before so don’t tell me im gonna have to live with this for the rest of my life from now on. damn.
Typical medical staff. Due to food intolerances caused by my cancer treatment, I’ve developed a very bad folate deficiency. It’s causing pins and needles and tingling in my legs and I’ve already lost the use of two toes, it’s spreading. The folic acid they prescribed causes severe UTIs. They tell my “just keep taking it, you need it.” So I kept taking it and the UTI got so bad that I’ve now had multiple extended courses of antibiotics and the UTI still won’t go. I had to stop taking the folic. I can’t sleep at night, need to pee constantly and the folate deficiency is worsening but literally no-one cares, they just say “take the folate and here are some more antibiotics” just over and over again. On top of this antibiotics cause inflamed tendons in susceptible people and they have flared my achilles tendons up again, after all my physiotherapy and shockwave treatment. Why can’t they just legalise assisted suicide already, it’s not like anyone actually cares about us.
I feel like this is a lot of patients’ experiences. The medical response is just throw pills at it and deal with the side effects. Or alternatively, here’s some more pills with more side effects. And it’s all a business designed to extract as much wealth as possible from patients.
I dunno if you’ve looked into it, but changing diet helps a lot of medical conditions. It’s something your Dr is unlikely to discuss in any detail because nutrition is usually not included in a medical degree and the schools that do include nutrition it’s only like 1-2 classes. I recommend looking at diet because of the experience I’ve had. I try to follow the “Daily Dozen” by Dr Greger, it’s 12 healthy foods to eat every day (does not require giving up any food to follow). The better I stick to it (esp eating enough fruits and veggies), the better I feel. I’m asymptomatic now for fibromyalgia, asthma, most allergies & migraines. My wife has had similar results with very high blood pressure & migraines. My fibromyalgia was very severe, I used a cane and was in constant pain. Now I can run without pain or breathing problems. Not sure your dx, but that diet has been proven to reverse heart disease, Dr Greger has the studies listed on his website. He also posts videos there that are basically the entire audiobooks for free
