Weeks after Donald Trump backed out of a scheduled Sept. 10 debate, the former president proposed a televised face-off against Kamala Harris, but under his own terms.

In a Truth Social post, Trump offered to debate Harris but with a change of date — Sept. 4 — as well as a change in televised venue, insisting on the much-friendlier (for him) confines of Fox News instead of ABC, which was to host the planned Sept. 10 debate.

“The Debate was previously scheduled against Sleepy Joe Biden on ABC, but has been terminated in that Biden will no longer be a participant, and I am in litigation against ABC Network and George Slopadopoulos, thereby creating a conflict of interest,” Trump claimed in his post.

In response to Trump’s invitation, Harris’ campaign issued a statement telling Trump to man up and fulfill his previously scheduled obligation. “Donald Trump is running scared and trying to back out of the debate he already agreed to and running straight to Fox News to bail him out,” the statement said.

"He needs to stop playing games and show up to the debate he already committed to on Sept. 10.” Harris’ campaigned stated they’d be open to discussing additional debates following the Sept. 10 affair, which — if Trump doesn’t show up to — Harris will “take the opportunity to speak to a prime time national audience.”

Mocking Trump’s previous declarations about debating President Biden, the Harris campaign statement added, “Mr. Anytime, anywhere, anyplace should have no problem with that unless he’s too scared to show up on the 10th.”

I like that idea, just hold them anyway and cut to a blank candidate when the ask him questions. Spotlight on Harris!
