What I saw (and later looked up):
- They have about a dozen of their own television channels, all run by the state-owned VTV network (based). About half of them broadcast nationally, with the other half for various regions.
- Saw a lot of documentary type stuff about local industries - growing and packaging of cashews, durians, stuff like that, including interviews with the farm and factory workers. Very chill pacing and presentation. Wish I could’ve understood what they were saying.
- What appeared to be a game or competition between PAVN units that involved setting up and firing towed artillery. I only caught the tail end of this, which was a shame, because it looked pretty cool.
- A CCTV
nature show covering what appeared to be wild dogs with a guy filming from a moving ATV and a very excited sounding narrator. - A Korean music video channel. First time I ever actually listened to K-Pop. It was alright.
- A Japanese channel covering a sumo wrestling tournament
- A Malaysian channel I don’t remember anything about
- BBC, CNN, The Learning Channel, and a couple of other US/Euro channels that I didn’t bother with because I didn’t travel halfway around the world to watch the shit I could see at home
Hardly the most exciting thing to do in Vietnam, but hey, it was something while I waited for my fever and fatigue to let up enough to get out of bed (which it did a few days ago, thankfully).
