In short:

The construction of a large concrete wall at a waterfront redevelopment on Tasmania’s west coast has upset locals who say it blocks views of Macquarie Harbour and affects traffic.

A community meeting has been held for the council to hear concerns from residents.

What’s next?

West Coast Council says it has agreed to look at options, including potentially reducing the wall’s height, with a report to be presented at the next council meeting.

It’s infuriating that no where is any attempt at an explanation given for why the wall was recommended or built.

Human history is littered with the remains of big walls.

China has one. It is quite famous. Germany had one, but they tore it down.

Pink Floyd sang about one, and people liked that a lot.

Now Tasmania’s West Coast Council has erected its own entry, but locals are not thrilled.

Guessing there was so little information to go off of, that the writer had to have a bit of fun.
