I went to a nature park/walk this past month. My wife brought up the idea of the “bright back dire wolves”. The lady running the wolf exhibit could not shut that shit down fast enough, about how they weren’t real dire wolves, or the real ones were even bigger. She almost seemed offended that the concept was brought up in her presence.
Realistically, she’s right they’re not truely the same, however thats not really the point either. The goal is that something fills the ecological niche that was destroyed by human activity, ideally bringing back more balance and robustness to the ecosystem.
