Back in the day, a young Donald Trump was mentored in New York politics by the legendary Roy Cohn. Cohn had been Joe McCarthy’s righthand man during the 1950s and had carved out a reputation as one of the meanest lawyers in Manhattan. When Cohn was diagnosed with AIDS and outed as a gay man, Trump abandoned him cold.

Supposedly there are conflicting stories about that. I forget the exact details but basically as I recall there are two sources, I think the switchboard operator and the secretary. One says he stopped speaking to him altogether and the other says they kept talking, Trump was the last person to speak to him before he died and all Trump did was move his legal matters to an attorney who wasn’t literally dying.
