Tumblr reblog as only source due to RT forums shutdown and the original post being deleted (Mboymanuel still exists on tumblr but looks like they dropped RWBY around V4).

No shade to MUNNKIE for their design winning but Velvet’s canon battle dress has always struck me as kinda bland (probably not helped by the drab recolor RT gave the original design), and it’s a shame that we didn’t get something more colorful and flouncy like this.

I’ve managed to dig up and save around 100 old designs that still exist out on the internet (and actually recently found probably a dozen more on Pixiv I need to save) which I can post on occasion but this is probably the one with the most detail given the extra images.
