According to a report by Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service, a significant portion of these expenditures is hidden: 59% of the military budget is undisclosed. During the first three quarters of 2025, spending under “open” budget items amounted to RUB 4.816 trillion, while “closed” items totaled RUB 7.038 trillion. On a year-on-year basis, the classified portion of expenditures increased by 39%.
“The Kremlin is shifting the burden of financing the war onto the population through new taxes and rising prices. Under conditions where any anti-war criticism is punished as ‘treason’, space for public discontent has virtually disappeared. As a result, from 2022 to 2025 prices for Russians rose continuously,” the intelligence service noted.

Fuel prices increased by 29–35%, and this trend is expected to continue in 2026. Real estate prices in Russia rose by 50% between 2022 and 2025; in 2026, a further increase of 6–7% is expected, while in Moscow specifically prices may rise by up to 20%.
The most sensitive increase has been in food prices: dairy products rose by 62%, and meat by 41%. Forecasts for 2026 predict further price increases of tens of percent.

Sometime after the initial invasion of Ukraine, I see floods of faux concerns from “peace advocates” online telling Ukraine to just stop fighting and think of the men and women dying against a bigger opponent. And yet I don’t see these “peace advocates” turn their attention to Russia, the aggressor and the one who started the war, to stop invading. I mean, peace advocates would usually tell both sides to stop. Why haven’t these peace advocates done that, and instead lay the responsibility of ceasing the fighting to Ukraine alone? It’s very obvious these are Russian trolls feigning concerns on Ukraine. These trolls mention the cost to Ukraine, but conveniently ignores and don’t mention the bigger cost to Russia-- which is the accelerated demographic decline, and loss of economic and political prestige of the country. Even if Russia comes out with more concessions than one would have liked, the cost to Russia is a Pyrrhic victory. And their invasion of Ukraine will pay negative dividends in decades to come; kinda like the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan cost them dearly, and the US adventurism in the Middle East twenty years ago is now costing the US democracy.
What does this has anything to do with what I said? Russia is the aggressor and peace happen when Russia retreat and Ukrainian will keep resisting till they are free. It was always the case in history
I know what you’re saying but what I’m saying is that some people feigning concerns tend to lay the responsibility solely on Ukraine to cease fighting. Not saying you’re one of those but the Russian trolls amplify bad faith advocacy.
Sure , propagandists defending occupation always existed. Ukraine responsibility is to push the aggressors out and not to surrender
