Bird feeding season is coming up and we already have a couple of tits showing up on the balcony.

Last year I was forced to tie string around the feeding trey to keep the pigeons out. Turns out, the smaller birds like to swing around on them.

I was wondering whether I could build some nice toys for visiting birds to make their stay as pleasant as possible. Any ideas?

tiny birds like places they can hide and, ideally explore in. my wife makes what she calls obelisks out of branches and grapevine, essentially a small dead hedge. basically a teepee wrapped in vine where they can get in and feel safe. if your balcony has room, maybe a smaller version of this?

As a life long pigeon lover it makes me sad that you’d want to keep them out. I love their cooing. They prefer tray and ground feeding so a vertical feeder would not attract them.
