He was dying. He had been on his back for 24 hours. I picked him up out of the fish tank and he could barely move. I dropped him in this fish tank in the pipes so that he could find some protection from the mollies.
And he bounced right back. He’s still a little slow but he’s making his way around the tank on all of his legs now. And he’s able to give off enough of the threat display that the Molly’s leave him alone.
I really need to go through and figure out all of the parameters of this tank.
No worries! Sounds like you got everything mostly figured out already.
Sounds like your water is perfect for what you’re trying to do.
I mean if you like it challenge you could definitely go ahead with fry but if you haven’t really had a ton of experience with fish I would definitely start out with some adult fish first and see how you do.
Make sure that muck bucket can take the weight of the water because a lot of times they can’t.
Best of luck my friend I can’t wait to see what you come up with!
Make sure when you’re done post it here 😂
I’m not exactly sure how hard my water is, but I don’t think it’s soft and I don’t think it’s like ridiculously hard.
Yeah, trying to raise the babies right off the bat definitely feels like an ambitious choice with exactly zero fish-keeping experience 😅. I think part of me just worries that the breeder who has the pattern I love will end up keeping different stuff and won’t have them any more. I rarely see that pattern and when I do its usually a slightly different version/line, and more expensive (I think what I like might be considered lower “grade” or quality. The patterns are more random and blotchy and I think that’s prettier than the more organized or symmetrical patterns). That may just be a fomo anxiety on my part
I think I remember looking up the weight and seeing it was within the rated weight limit, but I’ll double check it! I live on the third floor, it’d really fucking suck if it failed lol
Thank you for the encouragement! If I give things a go when I manage to get a job I’ll be sure to post it 😊 in the mean time I’ll just be happy to see people’s cool tanks :) I’ve just about run out of things to research, so if I stay interested it’s a good sign it’s a hobby I’d like to pursue and not just me having fun obsessively learning stuff about some random hobby and planning out hypotheticals lol
