    I am just gonna say: every media has more trash than good. I watched alot of movies at one point and some us shows and like I cringe most of the time at their stupid humor and shitty characters or acting. The same as I do for most anime.

    On the other hand movies and shows never got me as excited as some anime did.

        The only real problem is that most anime fans are teenager with bad taste or adults that are stuck with teenage brains and because of that trash gets hyped up way too much, while genuenly good stuff is hidden behind some drama sol genre instead of being popular action or a romcom (i love action and romcoms tho)

      As a former anime fan, I agree. The number of crappy, overused tropes, style over substance, and sexist pandering really put me off anime/manga as a whole, and I’ve never looked back

        Every medium has tropes, obviously, but there’s something about anime that bothers me so much. I think it’s the fact that they pump em out so frequently and people praise it too much.

        This is purely subjective of course. If you love anime good on you. I used to too, but I just can’t do it anymore for the most part.

          It’s the consumer aspect IMO. There is a common kind of person that is deep into anime, watches it all the fucking time and doesn’t do anything interesting with their lives. Maybe a video game here and there, but overall always consuming media, rarely ever creating anything.

          That’s what I dont like. People who are loudly into something where all they do is sit and stare, go to work so they can come home and sit and stare.

          It’s not just anime, but anime lures this kind of person. I met several people like this in a group, then I realized all they ever want to fucking do is watch TV and I couldn’t be a part of it because I didn’t want to spend hours doing nothing while they get high and watch TV all day.

      As with all things, there are a small handful of genuinely brilliant pieces of art, and a ton of derivative crap.

      The good ones are some of the best media I have ever consumed and have left me with feelings that last far past the credits roll.

      Like 90% of them though I watch one episode and then quit or else never start watching it because you can just tell it’s ass by looking at the preview. In that way I don’t really see it as that much different than ‘proper’ movies. Some of them are really good! A lot of them aren’t. Some people like to go through the pile and find the ones that are good to share with the rest of us. Some people just really like watching the shitty ones, too.
