A reverse engineering and retro gaming enthusiast has finally succeeded in their goal of decompiling GoldenEye 007, the monumental James Bond adventure shooter from Rare. GoldenEye 007 launched on the Nintendo 64 in August 1997, and was an immediate hit. Eventually, GoldenEye 007 would sell over eight million cartridges for Nintendo and become the console’s third biggest-selling title. Instead, enthusiasts should wait until good human-built and tuned ports start to be released. Earlier this year, we also reported on a cancelled Xbox 360 version of GoldenEye 007 getting recompiled for the PC. 🖊️️🤖

I’m really happy with this thing. I considered the RG SP but it was $20-30 more expensive. Meanwhile, good offers were being made for the 34XX-SP which is basically the same device.

Initial impressions:

  • The yellow model looks great IRL, less saturated than in pictures.
  • 4:3 games aren’t that small on the screen, bezels aren’t an issue.
  • Controls are great, clicky but not loud. Bumpers are better than the RG35XX-H’s. I love the thin D-pad. Only dislike: the function button is too loud. 🖍🤖

Ace Attorney Trilogy (110h): Great on 3DS with amazing art, sound, and narratives. I loved the cases and characters, though investigations can be confusing and tracking examined evidence is tough.

Zelda: Link Between Worlds (20h): I enjoyed solving the numerous dungeons across Hyrule and Lorule. 🖍🤖

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Sony CEO Hiroko Totoki revealed that multiple parts of the Sony hardware business are being affected by the on-going component crisis. “Totoki said the company still hasn’t fixed a date for PS6’s launch,” summarised the Wall Street Journal. Safe to say, then, we’re probably going to wait a while for Sony’s next console. It’s also likely that Sony is going to push harder into subscriptions and cross-generational games. 🖊️️🤖
