Pretty sure the Rockettes are well known in the US & Canada, not sure about elsewhere so: they are a precision dance troupe out of NYC, started in 1925 and still going strong 101 years on. They’re known for holiday shows, large synchronized dance numbers, and leggy high kick chorus lines.

Closeup of the pinball art:

Rockettes Pinball

Despite their often leggy costumes, the actual Rockettes do not perform in bikinis, so the pinball is playing it up for sex appeal.

They’re not known at all here in Australia, but I learnt about them from the stuff you should know podcast

      Nice.

They play the Sydney state theater once in a while, and maybe… mmm… Adelaide or so? Depending on viable vs prohibitive distances and such, it’s possible to see 'em without a trip to NYC.

Maybe you’re right. I’m not particularly cultured, so perhaps they are more well known out of my (admittedly nerdy) group, and probably even less well known to the average bloke like myself… I was actually going to skip the podcast at first tbh, but I probably assumed they were a band.

The podcast definitely made it sound like it was a super tough gig to be a part of though

Oh, sorry, I didn’t mean that as a dig on your state of culturedness :). More of an FYI thing for those who might be interested in catching a local show, that they do go on the road sometimes.

Yeah I’ve heard it’s a pretty competitive gig.
