A group of U.S. alcohol producers claims Canadian retailers are giving unfair advantage to local spirits, including what it calls “discriminatory” markups in Nova Scotia and other provinces.
They really don’t get what “free enterprise” means, do they?
The retailers get to set the prices. Get to decide what to stock and what not to stock. Get to decide which brands get favoured location and which get shoved on the lowest shelf and/or pushed to the back.
The vendors have nothing to say absent a legal agreement.
