I just finished bulk-marking them as “not spam” in an attempt to undo the work, and I always check my spam inbox manually anyway, but I just thought this was… interesting, as I’ve never had anything remotely like this happen before in my life. Does anyone have any idea of how this happened? Why is such a piece of software still allowed in managers?

@Flagstaff Nope. Evolution isn’t the villain here! The local filter was simply completely untrained when you first connected your account, and Gmail mistakenly interpreted your moved emails as real spam reports. Without Gmail’s particular way of handling IMAP moves, this wouldn’t have happened at all. Just turn off the local junk detection in Evolution’s settings for your Gmail account, and Gmail itself will take over the sorting again – and that’ll be the end of that headache.

      moved emails

But I never moved any emails anywhere, either… That’s why I’m so baffled by this. I left Evolution shortly after to return to Betterbird so it’s sort of a non-issue but I just wish that the junk detection could be opt-in, I suppose.
