It’s hard for me how he recognizes all the (social) issues with LLMs and still comes to the conclusion that he isn’t in part responsible for them.


I agree that it’s unlike any other tool. I want to say it’s not even a tool, but I don’t know how to square that circle
The US Copyright Office doesn’t consider it a creative tool in the same way as something like Photoshop, so they would agree with you.
