Ohhh that’s interesting. Moving the family off Playstation and onto a self-built Steambox (Bazzite) atm and this could help since many of the games the youngest kid still wants to play are PS4 rather than PS5.

I did a quick check but didn’t see anything about moving savefiles off a real system onto the emulator. Does anyone know?

It’s true. There’s still a lot of work to be done.
They also have an official site that lists the compatibility as well as blog posts, forum posts, and download links for the emulator.

I never tried it myself, but there is this save tool that should allow you to copy them down. You’ll most likely need to jailbreak your PS4 in order to use the tool though and that requires extra steps.
If you want to move to shadPS4, I strongly recommend turning off automatic updates on your console and look if there’s a jailbreak method for the firmware version it’s using (currently there’s jailbreaks up to firmware 12.52 and nothing beyond, though that will change in the future).
A jailbroken console is currently necessary to dump your games, updates, DLC, firmware modules, etc. ShadPS4 does have a quickstart guide that has some basic info on this. For more in depth help, YouTube channel, Modded Warfare has several videos for jailbreaking multiple different FW versions.

Hopefully this is a good starting point for you and others to emulate PS4 games.
