I can get behind a lot of this take. Agreed on being good use cases like translation, image/data processing, and so on.

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Lamar wants to have children with his girlfriend. The problem? She’s entirely AI
19·8 hours agoHonestly disturbing and fascinating at the same time. People will bond with anything, yet some will dehumanize real people that are different. Can understand the temptation of a perfect partner, but this always-yes enabling chat bots are toxic. It would be one thing if these were true AI’s in the fully sentient/sapient sense, but this is just self-delusion.
Another reason I hate how the term AI has been co-opted by tech bros, using the term to increase sales, poisoning the true meaning.

Damn, I fell for it. Satire is difficult these days, with how much absurdity is written with complete sincerity.

3·1 day agoI don’t know if the actual value of the gold is enough to really move the needle on a modern government war budget. Enough to make a small group insanely rich, definitely.

3·13 days agoYou would be right, if the Republican administration actually followed rule of law. How many major court cases have they lost, yet continued doing that they were sued/charged over? I’ve lost count. The laws are not being Enforced, because the enforcement is the task of the Executive branch, i.e. the presidency and departments (FBI, NSA, DOD, DHS, etc). In previous administrations, the non partisan federal employees would enforce the law with either party in the Whitehouse, but with this current Republican administration and it’s purge of federal workforce and replacing non-partisan positions with political appointees, as explicitly called for in Project 2025.

43·14 days agoCan confirm first hand the FSD is actually working decently, my musk-fanboy brother-in-law showed it off at Christmas. Kudos to the engineers involved, must be easier when muskrat is distracted so they can actually get work done. Still needs proper regulation and Musk out before I’d purchase one though.
IIRC, Tesla and SpaceX had people dedicated to distracting/minding him so they could get actual work done. Can’t find source at moment, if anyone can link I’d appreciate it.
