  • Speaking in general, the main difference I have observed is that the “liberal” instances aka Piefed, LW and the large colonial-power-aligned instances, seem to have decided being federated with any leftist instances who challenge state-backed narratives is legally/politically problematic for them. No wonder, since leftism is becoming increasingly criminalized in the west. There has been a sustained campaign to paint anyone left of the Democrats as an “extremist” and to try to isolate us as much as possible. Previously, I’d say most of the political agitation on Lemmy came from leftists. Now, it seems to be mostly coming from anti-antifa crowd, aka the far right.

    For this ban in particular though, I think this was a clear case of PTB. Wren is about as reasonable a user as I have come across on Lemmy.
