One thing that you could do (if you have any sway the with the club’s management or operations), is find ways to broadcast the establishment’s acceptance of gender-diverse folks. Lots of places like putting up pride flags or pride stickers in the shop window for this, but that isn’t always possible. More-so than putting up tacky flags, what I really really like is when businesses use signs like these around their gendered spaces:

Before I became involved with the clubs happenings I just trained there, I remember there being some discussion about signing a rainbow agreement (an initiative by the municipalty iirc). One parent of a kid was really against that and that parents kid is still one of the athletes here (theyre performing pretty well too so…). Dont really know the ins and outs but the other staff doesnt wanna step people on their toes (they are anti discrimination of any kind tho so its like they try to keep a certain balance). So i dont think I can get something like that to pass the board

Oh so more like saying it like: “heres the *their gender* changing room, in case you prefer the other one its over there”?

Many trans women can feel insecure about their right to use the women’s changing room, so gently pushing them that way as showing that as the assumed default will help them.

Check in periodically. If you meet weekly, maybe at the end of each session. If you meet a few times a week, maybe ever week or two ask how they are doing. Ask if things are going well, if they are getting along well with people, etc. Good one, will do!

Set the expectation early that they can talk to you if something isn’t working for them. Ill also make sure they know the dedicated person everyone can talk to confidentially (idk the English translation lol)

The national federation forces us to use a system that doesnt allow preferred namens as far as I know, will check that. We don’t send a lot of (or any) personalized emails/texts so I think we should be fine regarding that. Thanks!

Google has everything that they do listed in their Privacy Policy, you may not like it but its all in there. A small malicious company might not care so much indeed.

True, however, if it turns out (ie gets leaked or proven) that this company doesn’t follow their Privacy Policy, it is a very bad look for them and subjects them to fines (or other punishments) from DPA’s.
