The reading of the verdict, which started shortly after 10:00 (09:00 BST), is expected to take up to two hours.
Can someone explain to me why reading a verdict would take two hours?
edit: Able to answer my own question here after reading more on a different site:
“It’s going to take a while,” said the judge. “The court has no intention of keeping up suspense but it will, as is customary, provide a number of explanations for the decision taken.”
It’s in French, presumably they would have to check spelling and look up words in the dictionary as they come to them. They might have to call in the French Word Police ™️ (les gendarmes de mots francais) if they come to a disagreement, so it could take all day.
