Growing an entertainment division isn’t so much losing money, it’s an investment.
And, creating a library of content you monetize for decades to come is also an investment not a loss.
I love several of their shows but I’m not doing subscriptions anymore.
Same here, quality shows. But the value is not there in subscriptions.
Must have lost hundreds of dollars paying subscriptions for media services i rarely find anything good on. Now they are all cancelled since a year back.
It’s the old HBO, high quality, sometimes high-concept shows.
But HBO had movies (a lot of movies) to keep it popular, Apple TV doesn’t really have the same level.
As HBO continues to sink into the dirt, there might be room for Apple to reclaim some of the higher-income customers, but we also don’t have a solid streaming genre specialization yet, ie you go to netflix for romcoms, you go to Max for fantasy like HoD.
Until we have some level of specialization, everyone has to either subscribe to everything, or hop between/borrow friends accounts, and Apple TV is the least worthwhile because it has so little ‘netflix noise’ like the old days had infinite reruns of The Office.
apple IS the liberal centrist. there nothing known to be more boring. their core DNA is having no edge other then “design” or whatever they stole from BRAUN. their products today are emotional support toys for the cowards. zero personality devices made by a company that has understood their sheep - how would they be able to create something new? they cant. just like this marvel shit is a dead end.

Not really, they do have quality laptops and computers. Even made their own cpus which are significantly faster and cooler with much better battery time than the competition.
Their visual style has stayed mostly the same but thats because its still stylish. People want that style still.
“people want that style” so others think there is “nothing wrong with them. they have a certain taste” etc while in reality they have no edge and thats what the core of apple has become and why their media wastes billions…of the money they earned selling 60$ devices for over a thousand. EU just told em to allow sideloading just further showing how pathetic apple is.
Yeah I guess you are right about them having no edge. They have become some kind of default looking device that people seem to appreciate, but they are not challenging any visual norms by being edgy.
