Why can’t people accept that some folks’ identities are fluid and that they are brave enough to try and understand their gender identity? Gender journeys aren’t straightforward!
I hate how this centers grifters, rather than the very small minority of people who legitimately are seeking resources to be seen as who they want to be seen as. The very few people who opt to detransition may be doing it for safety or they may no longer feel like the changes they went through work for them…and that is valid!
On top of that, people who detransition are going to experience unique hurdles themselves, depending on the paths they’ve opted to take on their gender journey. Wouldn’t it be better to have a culture that normalizes the idea of fluid gender identities in the first place, so that regardless of whether you feel regret or not, there are ways that you CAN feel supported and validated?
What’s NOT valid is a few select individuals saying that NO ONE should cultivate a healthy environment to explore their gender identity!
(I am well aware that I’m probably “preaching to the choir” here. This comment is aimed at folks who have a more “negative” impression of detransitioners because of how right-wing media has painted them. For what it’s worth, I consider my path as a “retransition” into being nonbinary from someone who had strictly identified as a binary guy. And I all I want to do is just be my queer ass self without having people thinking that I’ve got “transition regret”, because I DON’T! I’m glad to have figured out that being a binary guy isn’t for me, and I’m ever so grateful for all of the experiences I’ve had! But Fox News, et. al., don’t want THAT narrative!)
Of course Chloe Cole is there. The majority of detrans folk support trans folk (and conversely), so the fascists keep bringing the same couple of grifters over and over to represent such a supposedly enormous community.
