So there’s a huge stray cat problem and population in Corfu and I’m trying to make a tiny difference. This is the first cat I’ll be trapping myself and releasing. Today my friend‘s mom dropped off a trap and we’re gonna set it up and see what happens. I’ll keep you guys posted
(Edit: edited to say I am sure he is a stray because he doesn’t belong to any of my family which are the only people that live around me and there’s only a main road that you would have to cross to get here and I’ve been feeding him for three months either way, the vet will confirm if he’s microchip or not too. Also, I’m not releasing a randomly I’m going to release them right where he comes to eat. )

I am 100% sure, but he eats at my house I have a food bowl at the top of the gate for him. And even if he is a neighbours because he’s roaming around like that he should be neutered and unfortunately Greek mentality over here don’t fix a neuter your pets if you even like offered to do it for them it’s almost like you’re asking to castrate their son, but yeah, no, he is definitely a stray and not a neighbours I only have 4 neighbours 😂
Edit; also realised I didn’t answer the question. I’m going to release him right where I trapped him around my house. I live in a remote village in Corfu like my property is 2 acres. The only people that live next to me are my family so I literally don’t know where he came from, but there’s a lot strays and Corfu unfortunately :(
TIL Greek culture is averse to neutering their pets. Interesting. I wonder why
I think it’s an older generation thing :(
Because cutting my cat’s balls off is the same as cutting my own balls off?
I have encountered this mentality before.
It’s an extremely dumb mentality. In my country (mostly countryside) people just get rid of the puppies and kittens in awful ways. Put them in a bag and throw them in the river, strangle them, give them to vets to put them down or what my late neighbor did bury them alive right after they’re born. It’s sickening.
So, that’s why they want more of them.
EXACTLY THIS HERE TOO IT DISGUSTING
Here’s a post to three cats that were tied in a plastic bags and thrown in dumpster… Lucky a tourist found them and I bottle fed them and all three survived. Unfortunately a few others I’ve tried to bottle feed weren’t as lucky because it’s super hard with out the cat moms milk :(

Actually, though; cause I offered last year when there was a sterilisation program to do my aunts cats and she was like no no and I’m like but they’re gonna have kittens and aren’t you sad that not all of them make it like it’s not good and literally that’s just the mentality 😪
