I have the reverse experience when traveling. It’s legal here but not in countries that I like to visit.
It feels weird and limited to find people smoking by the smell, and ask them for their plug.

Depends on the area. Some places it’s illegal to smoke in view of the public or children, etc. That doesn’t mean people are following the rules though lol.
