For real, it is crazy how much money these movies make. They’re bad even compared to the other mediocre big budget slop, and yet they seem to do even better commercially. I don’t get the appeal, but it’s not confusing why they keep making them, nor why they aren’t getting better.
It’s comfortable big spectacle slop telling the same story every movie. You go to kill an afternoon and at the dinosaurs eating people. And they can sprinkle in some shit from the first one as nostalgia bait
Yeah, I guess the simple answer is that they’re the ultimate four-quadrant movies. They appeal to pretty much any configuration of movie-goers without being offputting to any other, to the point that they don’t even need to pretend to be any good.
Universal will stop making Jurassic Park sequels when people stop paying money to see them.

deserve better. there are lots of all-ages media things that are good and have layers.
